Flower Festival - 1-3 June 2002

The Church flower festival at St Mary's was on the theme Country crafts and had many people gasping in amazement at the sheer ingenuity of the arrangements. Blacksmith, carpenter, cobbler, spinner and patchworker were just some of the crafts represented. People loved the Prince of Wales arrangement and the flowers on the belfry windowsill which reflected those depicted in the Spender window above.. The font decked out in baby blue,
pink and yellow with its beautifully pintucked christening robe also came in for praise. The general comment from villagers was that they had never seen the church look so beautiful. Visitors also enjoyed the wonderful refreshments in the Village Hall organised by Shiela Greer and the oportunity to look at crafts from woodturning to corn dollies.
