Rushden and Wallington Parish Council

MINUTES' HIGHLIGHTS 8th October 2002

1.  Speed Limits in Rushden

  • The 30mph speed limit at Mill End Nursery will be extended 200 yards south-west beyond South View.

  • The County Council is considering applying a 40mph limit to the road between Rushden and Redhill.

  • Police enforcement of the 30mph limit at Mill End is expected before Christmas.

2.   Hillside Planning Appeal – Decision expected in November.

3.   PC Nick Eliason – Hopes to attend our next meeting on 25th November.

4.  Two Wallington Parish Councillor Vacancies – No-one has as yet formally volunteered themselves for co-option.

5.  Parish Council Election May 2003 – The current terms of all Parish Councillors expire in May 2003. Assuming that more candidates stand for Parish Councillor then there are places, (3 in Rushden and 2 in Wallington), then there will be an election.

6.  Parish Clerk – Sylvia Cotterill will be standing down as our Parish Clerk after 18 years of service, after the end of our February meeting. We will miss her and her contribution to the smooth running of the Parish Council very much. Elspeth Roberts will be taking over from her after our February meeting next year.
