Rushden and Wallington Parish Council

MINUTES' HIGHLIGHTS 16th May 2006

Rushden & Wallington Parish Council – Highlights of the Annual General Meeting on 16 May 2006

Nick Launder resigned from the Parish Council with immediate effect and was thanked for his huge contribution over the last 11 years. Steve Mabbs was appointed Chairman for the forthcoming year.

Rushden’s water main will be replaced this summer. The work will take approximately 4 weeks and will involve temporary road closures and interruptions to the water supply during the day. Residents will be advised in advance of these interruptions. Treacle Lane’s main is not going to be replaced.

The Parish Council  has met with the Highways Department to show them the state of the local roads, but it has been difficult to obtain written commitment to any re-surfacing. Patching has commenced on the C5 road from Cumberlow Green to Slip End.

Concerns were raised by residents about the safety of the new bypass. Steve Jarvis at the District Council will be advised.

There is a problem with dog-fouling in Rushden. Residents are requested to clear up after their dogs but not to then throw the bag into the hedgerows!

There has been an increase in motorbikes off-roading across farmland and footpaths. Please look out for these bikes and if possible, take down their registration numbers – the police are keen to catch up with the offenders!

The next meeting will be on Tuesday 5 September 2006 at Wallington.
