Highlights Parish Council 1st February 2006

RUSHDEN & WALLINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

The main issues discussed at the last meeting of the Rushden & Wallington Parish Council on 1 February were:

·       With the opening of the Baldock bypass likely in March, every effort is being made to ensure that the right signs are in place to deter lorries from using the C5 road between Slip End and Cumberlow Green.

·       The Parish Council has toured local roads with the Highways Department to note all required repairs. The C5 road (Cumberlow Green to the A505) is scheduled for re-surfacing this year.

·       The Parish Council has been invited to contribute towards the funding of an additional Police Community Support Officer, but has decided against it for the time being at least. PC Marina is interested to hear how local residents think the PCSO scheme could be improved.

·       The Parish Council together with the police is looking into a proper re-launch of Neighbourhood Watch.

·       Brown wheelie bins for the collection of compostable waste are scheduled for distribution in the 2006/7 financial year.

The Parish Council’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday 16 May 2006 at 8pm in Rushden Village Hall. The respective Parish Assemblies for the villages will take place as follows:
