Rushden and Wallington Parish Council

MINUTES' HIGHLIGHTS 5th February 2001

At the meeting held on 5th February we were pleased to see some 28 members of the public in addition to the Parish Councillors.

Highlights of the meeting included:

Proposed 30mph speed limits at Rushden and Southern Green
Following the objection by the Police to the proposed speed limits and the
Parish Council's letter rejecting many of their reasons for objecting, we
welcomed Inspector Steve Foyle to the meeting for a full discussion.

Whilst the Parish Council could not persuade the Police to accept all of our
points, we are pleased to advise that County Council subsequently decided to
over-rule the Polic objection and Rushden and Southern Green will now get
their 30mph limits.

Proposed New Grain Store and Dwelling
At the time of the meeting the application by John Dingemans had not been
made. This has now been lodged with the District Council and will be
discussed at the Annual Rushden Parish Assembly to be held on 25th April.

Wallington Village Ponds
Much discussion took place on the past and future management of the ponds.
It was agreed to discuss the matter in detail at the Annual Wallington
Parish Assembly to be held on 10th April at 8pm.

Sixth Formers paying for Public Transport.
In view of the inequity of Sixth Formers paying for existing bus services,
it was decided to raise the issue with the prospective County Council
candidates.
