PARISH COUNCIL AGM HIGHLIGHTS 15 April 2002


HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE RUSHDEN PARISH ASSEMBLY HELD ON 15TH APRIL 2002

Events that the Parish Council had dealt with during the previous twelve months concerning Rushden were reviewed, including:

1. 30 mph Speed Limits - now in place for Rushden and Mill End - the police will shortly be carrying out speed checks. The Highways Partnership is reviewing the position at Southern Green.

2. Holly Lane - steps to prevent the erosion of the banks are being considered.

3. Hillside - planning consent for a much less environmentally-damaging smaller single storey dwelling given.

4. Grainstore at Southern Green - consent given for phase 1. Application for house alongside withdrawn.

5. Moon and Stars - the pub is beginning to do well this year but needs Rushden's active long-term support.

6. Road at Broadfield - the status of the road and its use by lorries was discussed.

7. A507 Junction with road to Cromer - requested District/County Councils to consider methods to improve safety, initially through the reduction of the hedge height.

8. Cumberlow Green Farm - District Council to review vehicle usage.
