Rushden and Wallington Parish Council

HIGHLIGHTS 2012

RUSHDEN & WALLINGTON PARISH COUNCIL NEWS

Towards the end of 2012, the Parish Council objected to a planning application for a single pitch traveller site on the Broadfield private road. The site falls in East Hertfordshire, so we were not automatically notified of the application, but were alerted to it by Cottered Parish Council. The application was turned down, but the applicant has lodged an appeal. We do not know the timing of this appeal, but we have reiterated our objections.

The Parish Council budget for 2013/14 has been set, at the same level it has been at for several years now.

The Parish Council is pressuring the Highways Department to get something down about the road surface and drainage in Wallington and to replace the dilapidated Mill End, Rushden signs. As ever, progress is difficult, not helped by a recent change in the administration at the Highways Department.

The dates have been set for the Rushden Parish Assembly and the Parish Council Annual General Meeting as below. At the time of going to press, the date for the Wallington Parish Assembly has not been set, but it will be in the next Gazette. All Parish Council meetings are open to the public, but the annual Parish Assembly meetings are your opportunity to raise any issues relating to your specific village. They really are your meetings – please try to come along.

Rushden Parish Assembly:  23 April, 8pm, Rushden Village Hall

Rushden & Wallington Parish Council AGM: 14 May, 8pm, Wallington Village Hall
