increasing level of tack thefts, Trish Marks, a co-ordinator for Herts &
District Horsewatch, is offering a microchipping service has been designed in
such a way that it will help protect your saddle from theft.
Protect your saddle by having our
microchip implanted in your saddle. Once the chip, which has its own unique
I.D. number, has been injected into your saddle your details will be placed on
the Tack Tagg National Database. You will then receive a registration
certificate (which must be transferred to the new owner if the saddle is sold.)
A small badge is stuck to the saddle so it is recognised as being chipped. If
this badge is removed the word VOID will then appear in its place.
The benefits are, that once a saddle
has been microchipped, it makes it much harder to steal without being detected.
To sell a microchipped saddle without detection means it would firstly have to
be taken apart to remove the chip, and secondly defaced to remove the
lettering. Anyone looking at the saddle would immediately know it had been
tampered with and of course the saddle itself would not be worth selling, never
mind buying.
Microchipping your saddle gives you
certified proof that you are the owner and is beneficial for many aspects of
your insurance. For example, if you put your horse out ‘on loan’ you can ensure
that it is returned with the original saddle.
The Tack Tagg
registration database is used in conjunction with the Police, Saddlers,
Auction Houses and Insurance Companies who scan microchipped
saddles that are offered for sale.
