Have you ever stopped and thought of the value of the property that you store in out buildings, gardening equipment, power tools, golf clubs fishing tackle etc.

This may run into hundreds if not thousands of pounds.

As the weather gets warmer we find that the criminal element of our society will be looking at thieving these items. The majority of these people are basically lazy (that why they are crooks) and simple security will save you the problem of dealing with such an incident I mean good padlocks locks and a security light

Security lights are very good, in the past when I have been on drug raids; there is nothing more off putting that sneaking round the back of a house and being illuminated by a great big security light. Shed alarms are very cheap you can purchase them from us for just over £6. Also and easy way to alarm a shed is with an alarm working off a PIR. If you install a PIR in your shed (a light that comes on when you walk up to it) just take off another supply and wire it into an alarm (must be a low power alarm and the right type of PIR). Hide a switch, and turn it on before you go to bed or go out.

Free Lock Shrouds

In a bid to reduce shed breaks I have obtained funding and had produced 65 shed lock shrouds, theses are basically a hasp & staple that has had a couple of metal plates welded over the portion where the padlock lays, this prevents the padlock being attacked. If you would like one please contact Chris Brabrook or Tracy Kennedy. You must live on my beat, if you don’t and want one get on to your local Police to make contact with me and we will see if I can get some transferred.

From PS Frost

“Best years of your life!”  We are all told this by our parents when we are at school but we do not believe them until it’s too late and we catch ourselves telling our children it!  It always seems strange that when we are at school we think up many weird and wonderful ways to get out of it, to stay off school or reasons not to do our homework.  But, as soon as we leave we sometimes will do anything to get back!  This seems to be true in Royston as recently two youths were stopped outside Meridian School and was arrested fro possession of Cannabis.

People who no longer go to school should not loiter outside of these premises as this encourages the pupils to leave the grounds.  Patrols will be stepped up at schools during term time and people will be asked to account why they are there.

Drugs badly effect people’s lives and are dangerous.  They will not be tolerated in Royston and offenders will be caught and dealt with.  I would urge anyone who has information regarding drugs in Royston to contact either me or my team or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  Your call will be taken seriously and treated in confidence.

During the recent half-term week evening patrols of Police and PCSOs were increased in a bid to combat anti-social behaviour.  During this week we experienced a number of groups of youths who were behaving in an unacceptable manner and have all been spoken to.  Alcohol continues to be drunk by the youths in the street and the Alcohol Free Zone is still strictly enforced.

I would ask that parents take steps to ensure that their children do not remove alcohol from the house or have it bought for them.  It is found that a lot of crime is committed by people who are under the influence of alcohol and are also victims of crime because they are under the influence of alcohol.

We will deal robustly with anyone found purchasing alcohol for under 18s and anyone with it in the street.

My team and I are willing to speak with children at the request of parents if they believe that they are coming home under the influence of alcohol.  Please contact us to arrange an appointment.

Royston remains a low crime area and by working together we can ensure that it remains that way.

If any of you want to contact me, please do so on 01438 757926. or via e-mail at: peter.frost@herts.pnn.police.uk
