Warning Car-Jacking

Be aware of this car-jacking scheme.
You walk across a car park, unlock your car and get inside. Then you lock all your doors, start the engine, look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.
So, you put the vehicle into neutral, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper or whatever it is that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off!!
Your engine was running, you would have left your purse in the car and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
BE AWARE OF THIS SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED IN LONDON/MANCHESTER MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
Just drive away and remove the paper later! Please forward this to friends and family.
A purse contains all identification, and you certainly do NOT want someone getting your home address as they already HAVE your keys!!!

Deer Poaching

We have had three incidents of suspected Deer Poaching this month, the area in question is between Weston and Wallington. There have also been reports of Deer Poaching on land that borders our area. This is a  national problem that seem to increase with the run up to Christmas. Please be very careful of these people, if you do see anything suspicious please call us but do not put your-self at risk.

Reported Crime

G4E; - Ashwell, Hinxworth, Hinxworth, Newnham & Caldecote

At 7pm on Friday 1st December, two males knocked on the back door of an elderly gentleman’s bungalow in, Ashwell.  The occupant opened his door to the males and they told him that they had seen a prowler in his garden before pushing him back into his house.  Once inside, one of the males removed the elderly gentleman’s spectacles and his panic alarm from around his neck, assumedly so he could not identify them or alert anyone, they then searched his pockets before making him sit down in a chair whilst they ransacked his home.  Once they had taken what was of interest to them they gave the gentleman back his glasses before leaving through the back door with strict instruction not to call anyone for at least five minutes following their departure.  The two thieves are described as males, medium build, and approximately 6ft tall.  Both males were dressed in black and were wearing black gloves and black woollen balaclavas with horizontal slits for the eyes.  £100 in cash was stolen.  (Crime no. G4/06/1290).

Sometime between 6pm on Monday 4th and 6.20am on Tuesday 5th December, a Peugeot van parked in Lucas Lane, Ashwell was broken into.  The driver’s side window was smashed and a Nokia mobile telephone was stolen from the drivers door pocket.  (Crime no. G4/06/1304).

Just before 9pm on Tuesday 5th December, a container situated on farmland in Ashwell was broken into.  The would be thieves cut the padlock with bolt croppers or similar implement but were disturbed when the alarm attached to the container activated.  They left empty-handed.  (Crime no. G4/06/1305).

A 59-year-old male was issued with a fine after Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the ‘Sleep Inn’ at Baldock Services during the early hours of Saturday 16th December.  (Crime no. G4/06/1344).

G4D; - Barkway, Barley, Reed, Nuthampstead, Newsells, Kelshall & Therfield

During the early hours of Wednesday 13th December, the drivers door lock of an unattended motor vehicle was vandalised whilst it was parked in the High Street, Barkway.  (Crime no. G4/06/1328).

A ‘Conway’ Trailer box was stolen from the driveway of a property in Barkway between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 13th December.

(Crime no. G4/06/1333).

G3C; - Sandon, Wallington, Rushden, Clothal & Weston

At12.50pm on Wednesday 6th December, the owner of a property in off the A507 returned to find that a burglary had occurred since 9am that day.  A scaffolding pole found nearby was used to force open the doors of an outbuilding.  Once inside, a large quantity of gardening tools was stolen from within.  Amongst the items stolen were a wacker plate, hedge trimmer and a chain saw.  (Crime no. G3/06/1072).
