Officers target suspected drug dealers

Essex Police executed 23 warrants at various addresses at a site in Harlow on Tuesday, January 26, as part of a multi agency operation to target suspected drug dealers.

Acting on information about the supply of drugs the joint operation codenamed Bracken saw four arrests at Fernhill Lane in Harlow; two for cultivation of cannabis and two for public disorder.

The operation aims to target everyday crime that affects residents in particular drugs, with officers also looking at reducing robbery, violent crime, burglary and car crime.

Harlow district commander, Chief Inspector Nick Morris said: “A significant amount of resources and partner agencies were committed to this operation.

“It was specifically planned to target individuals and not communities. We were acting upon intelligence gathered over a number of weeks and I would like assure the local community that we will continue to target any individuals involved in crime, wherever they may be.”

Police officers were accompanied by agency officials including the Harlow District Council benefits office, environment health, RSPCA, dog lost service, HM Revenue and Customs, EDF energy and the UK Border Agency.

Specialist search teams were deployed following the arrests to check for illegal diesel, stolen animals, illegal electrical thefts resulting in a stolen horsebox, a van and two motorbikes being seized.
