Spencer's Royal Academy Diploma Painting, 'The Farm Gate' 1950, closely follows this drawing: Hilda and a youthful Stanley open the gate to let the cows into Ovey's Farm, which was opposite Spencer's childhood home 'Fernlea' in Cookham High Street.
